a little love story in pictures from today from the placed we got engaged {ault park}...
we walked around the gardens up at ault park for a bit this morning and captured these beauties on camera.
what's an anniversary celebration without a homemade chocolate cake and feeding it to each other. please note that normally i would gag at the thought of being so mushy, but it's my anniversary people. i get at least one mushy day out of the year, right? lol.
top 10 things i've learned about our marriage in the last year:
1. if Jesus is not the center of our relationship, we are off balance.
2. luke is very type B and i am VERY type A ... we have to always meet in the middle.
3. kindness matters everyday, no matter what.
4. marriage is hard sometimes . we have to work at it everyday, not taking the little things for granted + laughing at the stupid stuff.
5. it's important to spend time together, but it's equally important for us to have alone quiet time.
6. there are going to be many circumstances that try our marriage + may cause us to stumble, but there is nothing we can't get through. {refer to #1}
7. it doesn't matter how long we've been married, we always get asked when we are going to start having kids. a.nnoy.ing. :)
8. it's amazing to have people in our lives who are praying for our marriage.
9. marriage isn't anything like playing house when i was a kid.
10. it's a beautiful feeling when i close my eyes at night next to a man that loves all of me and all of who i am and i open my eyes in the morning to a man who looks at me and doesn't scream and run, i mean, and smiles. haha
looking back at some of the things from our wedding, i found little cards that contain hand-written marriage advice. here's what some of them said:
• you can never say i love you too much. enjoy everyday and the new blessings coming your way.
• whatever she says, just agree
• always be kind and patient
• she is always going to be right
• love each other + love God. smile a lot too
• always be friends
• never go to bed angry
• keep God first + He'll make it amazing and what it should be
• secret word is yes, honey!
