As a mom, wife, and full time teacher, this time of year is exciting, but tense. I’m sure some of you agree with me as we transition from a more flexible schedule to a hectic, planned season.
You see, life is like that: tense at times. If we ignore the obvious tension, we will become more tense and even sick. However; if we recognize and deal with the tension, we can have peace through the power of Jesus.
In John 16:33, Jesus says,
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
In other words, life is not easy. There will be difficulties, but a clear, guarded, steadfast focus on God will result in peace that surpasses all understanding.
Philippians 4:7 says,
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Some of the ways I manage the tension that invades my life includes being well planned for each day, having friends and family who speak life and truth to me, and having extended time with the Lord each day. My plan is not always perfect, but I encourage you to create your own strategy for times when the tension rises.
My Prayer: God, thank you for giving us promises to help us through tense times. Thank you for the peace that comes from being your child. We choose to focus steadily on You. Holy Spirit, envelope us in your presence and peace. Guide us carefully to truth and life. In Jesus name!
