One of the most important books I have ever read was The Five Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman. In it were clearly defined ways of showing others that we love and care for them. My husband jokingly says that I have all five love languages, but the reality is that he knows my top love languages and understands the importance of expressing love to me in this way.
The other place that I see the Love Languages in use is my classroom. I have individual conferences with my students and love to see their faces light up when I use positive words to encourage them. This shows me the importance of positive encouragement.
No matter what our walks of life look like our challenge is to relate better with those people around us: in our homes, at work, or at Target. The common tie to each Love Language is LOVE. Let's take an assessment of how we love one another and commit to love deeper and incorporate our Love Languages.
My Prayer: God, thank you for reminding me to extend your love to those around me. Equip me Father to do your work. Pour into me the love I should have for others. Thank you Father for the wisdom of the Love Languages. We know that all good things come from you. Thanks for loving us with the demonstrative love we should have for other people. In Jesus' Name!
