If you are like me, life is busy and demanding. I work full time, teach Jazzercise, parent two active teenagers, and am a wife. In discussion about upcoming exams next week, my teenager said, "It's so much stress!" This was an important teaching moment in his life. Yes, it is a stressful time, but the key here is to submit to God's will and control your controllables. In other words, seek the Lord and do your best with what you can change or fix and leave the rest alone.
Matthew 6:33-34 says,
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
Managing stress is critical to our emotional well beings and physical health. I am the first to admit that worry is a struggle for me, but just because I confess it's a battle I fight, doesn't exempt me from obeying God.
Being a writer, I find comfort in journaling my worries and concerns. This is my humble attempt at placing them at the feet of Jesus. No matter if you use a prayer journal or actual worry jar- dealing with anxiety and stress is critical and is honoring to God.
My prayer: God, thank you for reminding me to do my best and leave the rest to you. I want nothing more than your will for my life. I choose to lay my anxiety at the foot of the cross. Thank you for redeeming my past failures and mistakes and using them for your glory. Prioritize my steps so that they reflect your best plans for me. In Jesus' name!
