i met up with a friend today and heard an awesome testimony of what happens when we listen to the Spirit of God.
My friend has a pretty voice. She's been feeling God tugging on her heart strings lately to share her gift. A weekend or two ago, she was at church and one of the worship team members, who did not know her, came up and asked her if she sang.
Yep. You see, she wasn't the only one listening to the Spirit of God. The worship team member was too, because later she found out that he has never randomly walked up to someone at church and asked if he/she sang. The Holy Spirit told him to ask her. He listened and obeyed (which is what Lori talked about this week in her post).
Can you imagine what would happen if we were all more in tune with the Spirit of God? Thinking about all the miracles and amazing God things that could happen if we obeyed the Spirit gets me really excited because this is how God moves — through us and through others. He creates relationships and encouraging communities. He shows up when we show up.
Here's the thing. We don't have to find a perfect church to hear God. We just have to find the quiet time and space to connect with Him because He will not compete with the worldly chaos. Lori summed it up perfectly:
From my experience, God seldom shoves me into obedience. He wants the abundance of my heart to seek Him and be obedient when He answers or directs.
i don't know about you, but hearing my friend's inspirational story today got me really excited about being more intentional about tuning in to the Spirit's voice. i want to experience more like what my friend did and i want to walk in obedience to the Lord.
Lord, speak to my heart, i am listening.
