Philippians 4:6 says,
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Sometimes when life is difficult, we often forget the pattern of dealing with anxieties set before us by the Lord. God asks us to pray and petition with thanksgiving. This prescription is usually the opposite of what our flesh tells us to do which is worry and become anxious.
The key is to take all thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). In other words, when challenges present themselves, we begin to pray and ask the Lord for His will and solution. Then we spend time in thanksgiving, instead of grumbling. For me, I turn on my praise music and sing to the Lord with all my heart.
There are times when I honestly struggle with God’s method. I worry or allow myself to become anxious. These are the times when I ask my faith-filled best friends to pray for me.
In the midst of the turmoil that life tosses our way, there is a victorious path we can choose: God’s way-pray, petition, and giving thanks. When we chase after the Lord’s way, we know we are in His perfect will for our lives.
My Prayer: Lord, thank you for reminding me that your way of dealing with anxiety is best. I repent for worrying and panicking. Holy Spirit, remind me to stay on the course for God’s best for me. Prompt me when I look to the right or left. Jesus, thank you for modeling this pattern while you were on earth. In Jesus Name!
