What.A.Week.
i was definitely challenged at work this week. i misread one of the schedules for a book that i am designing. Instead of being due on 6/12, like i thought, it was due 5/21. Oy. Luckily, it all worked out because the book was handed off to me a week late, so i was able to buy some time.
Faced with a choice of trusting that everything will get done or stressing out, i ended up somewhere in the middle. i was a bit overwhelmed, but was able to keep my stress levels pretty low. i put on my headphones, listened to some calming music and designed my heart out. And, i allowed myself quiet time to decompress before and after work. i left work at work so that i could rejuvenate and rest well.
This week showed me that i still have a little work to do in this stress/work area.
i wasn't the only one who had some work-related things on my mind this week. Cynthia talked about the importance of relationchips over work. Lori talked about setting up boundaries and gave some practical advice about leaving work at work, worker smarter not harder, and enjoying your free time.
Life is too short. Free time is limited, so it's so important that you use your time wisely. Over-working can send your health down the drain (real fast, if you aren't careful). Set up healthy boundaries and know when it's time to quit. i can guarantee that at the very end of your life, you won't be saying, "gee, i wish i worked more".
Enjoy your life, your family, your friends. Work really hard for the Lord, but also play hard :)
Thank you for my free time, Lord. i pray that i can find the perfect balance between work and play so that i can find rest.
