So how do you know you are on the right healing path?
There is only one way to know. If you are being guided by the Holy Spirit, which is truth, and following His lead, you are on the right path. If you are solely following the advice of doctors (medical or holistic), friends, internet research, or self, you'll never hear the voice of the Holy Spirit over all the other voices.
When we seek out the Spirit, receiving His words, and we want to find healing by way of Him, scripture tells us that we will find the knowledge of God.
The knowledge of God. (!!!) I love this.
My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.—Proverbs 2:1-5
When we are attentive and quiet, we enable ourselves to hear the Lord knocking on our door. He promises that if we hear His voice and open the door, the Lord will come in and be with us.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.—Revelation 3:20
Scriptures also tell us that His sheep hears His voice.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.—John 10:27-28
i follow Jesus, but i wonder if i really hear Him on a daily basis. i am surrounded by so much visual and auditory stimulation that it seems almost impossible to quiet the mind enough to know when the Spirit is guiding me. i really struggle with this every day. There's a conflict between the world and Truth in my mind and i get to choose which one wins. God isn't going to shout over the chaos ... i need to meet Him somewhere in the middle.
Healing can only come from the Lord. Sometimes it's a healing touch, but i've found that healing often comes through a journey and with the help of people the Lord puts in our healing path. It's through the journey that you and i become stronger, more self-aware, and so dependent on hearing the voice of the Spirit for guidance. When we seek out His guidance the Lord begins to speak in so many ways, even in dreams (as my experience has been).
For God speaks again and again,
though people do not recognize it.
He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night,
when deep sleep falls on people
as they lie in their beds.—Job 33:14-15
God desires that we are healthy, and if we aren't, He will help us get there. But we have to do our part, too, and show up. Showing up means being present. Being present means quieting the mind, the body, and the soul to hear what the Spirit is saying.
This week, the goal is to make time for quiet and ask the Spirit to guide you, to reveal the next part of your healing journey to you. He wants to tell you ... you just have to listen, because the one thing that may be holding you back from moving forward is the simple act of listening.
Father, God, thank you for giving us the Holy Spirit to guide us in Truth, for giving us wisdom, and keeping us on the right path. Reveal to those who are seeking, Lord, the path to healing. i pray in Jesus name that You will give us the answers we've been seeking. Amen.
